Over this last weekend, I attended a Gonstead seminar in Palm Springs, CA. This was my 57th seminar since 1981.
The Gonstead system of chiropractic is the ultimate standard in "hands on" spinal adjusting and remains the leader in chiropractic techniques. I have been a Gonstead Diplomate for over 25 years of my 33 years in practice. In order to become a Gonstead Diplomate, I had to take a written, practical and oral exam to demonstrate my proficiency and knowledge of the Gonstead technique.
It was nice to be around like minded people. What I like about the Gonstead seminars is the knowledge the I and the other doctors have aquired over our lifetime that is taught to both myself and the new doctors in chiropractic. Why reinvent the wheel when we can learn from others in the field? All the instructors are also in private practice. It never fails, as I am listening at the seminar, I will think of a problem one of my patient's is having and which the answer comes out in our discussions about case histories.
The Gonstead technique is a more difficult technique to learn so only the dedicated will go above and beyond the norm to master the system. The Gonstead system is a very specific technique of adjusting the spine that is very methodical in that a good history is important as is the use of full spine x-rays and the use of our hands to check for the various spinal segments that will need to be adjusted.
So, in conclusion, it was a great weekend learning experience that always confirms my passion and desire to help as many people as possible to reach optimal health through natural chiropractic methods.
